Finally, we get a playoff in college football this year.  It's just a four team playoff, but it's a start.

Unfortunately for Clemson, the season doesn't set up well for Tigers to be invited to the party.  Only one team from the ACC will make it to the final four, and the odds greatly favor Florida State.

So, what about these Tigers?  To have a truly big year, they'll have to do something they haven't done in a long time: win as an underdog in a hostile environment.  That means figure out a way to win at Georgia on August 30th or at Florida State on September 19th.  Then, they'll have to avoid stumbling at home against good North Carolina and Louisville teams, and take care of business with the rest of the conference schedule.  Plus, the Tigers are desperate to change the tide against South Carolina at Death Valley to end the regular season.

All of this is a lot to ask.  I'd say it's too much to ask.  I know Dabo is confident, but isn't he always?  I'm looking at 9-3 this year, and another bowl win against a good, but not great, team.   In the meantime, Clemson can develop new stars for 2015 like DeShaun Watson, Artavis Scott and MacKensie Alexander in hopes of being in the playoff picture a year down the road.
