Best....weekend....ever! Friday night, Tessa and I met up with her best friend Krista, her fiance Brandon and some of their friends in downtown Greenville so they could experience the Stanley Hotel on Main St. It was great getting to go through a second time in less than a week! Krista and Brandon were already scheduled to meet us the next morning for a one day trip down to Atlanta. Hated they had to go back to NC then come right back the next morning but they did nonetheless!
We took off from my apartment around 10 and got to the Mayfield Dairy in Braselton, GA around noon. We were bummed to learn that they were no longer giving tours as that location is being shut down. Nevertheless, we still got some ice cream then headed down the road to Chateau Elan. We got there a little after 1 and just in time to join a tour that had just started. When the wine tasting came around, Tessa and I downed every bit of all five samples they gave us and we were fairly toasty for a few minutes! We spent a bit of time in the gift shop so my little buzz could subside so I could drive us down to the Mall of Georgia.
I think Krista was in heaven being it was quite possibly the biggest mall she's ever been to. We grabbed some chow in the food court then spent several hours exploring the mall before heading further south into the city limits of Atlanta.
We got to Netherworld around 7:30 or so and already there was a substantial crowd growing! It was my first visit to the massive haunted house since 2003 when I lived in the northern outskirts of the city and, man, has it grown even better still! I was impressed eight years ago! The production was spectacular complete with incredible animatronics and amazing effects!
We went through "The Nightmares" first which is the main attraction and took at least half an hour to get through then the sideshow "Raw Meat" which was a significantly smaller walkthrough but not shabby by any means! After we went through both attractions, I was DYING to check out their merch stand! I was pleasantly surprised to see that their merchandise was very reasonably priced! I got a T-shirt for $15 and a sticker for $2 while Tessa got a decal for $1 and a water bottle for $2 - a good bit of stuff for exactly $20!
We then decided to get some pics taken with some of the actors walking around in full costume!
As you can tell from the picture, I was an easy target going through the haunted houses because of my bright ass Jack o'lantern shirt! I think every actor that popped out through the whole "Nightmares" walkthrough, went after me all the way through!
The experience was so amazing that we have to decided to fight Atlanta traffic each year to go! Can't wait to see what tricks and treats they have in store next year!
