Well the main thing worth writing about from this past weekend was my trip to Atlanta for Project 9-6-1's Filthy Fifth anniversary show with KORN at a country/dance club called Wild Bill's. Crazy that they have an anniversary show within the same week we have our Birthday Bash! It was great getting to see Original Chris who used to be my program director at 99X during my brief stint in Atlanta several years back.
When Tessa and I got to the venue, our Roadrunner Records rep, Darrin had us a guitar waiting to get signed by the band for our 12 Days of Axemas giveaway that will fire up next month! As we were waiting in line to meet the band, I struck up a conversation with the guys in front of us. The guys were, naturally, taller than us so none of us saw Munky walk right up to us since they were facing us. He walked right up to us and asked what we were talking about and I don't think any of us gave him a straight answer as we were all a bit bewildered! He was very pleasant and proceeded to sign autographs while Darrin took a few snapshots.
Shortly after Munky passed through, their drummer Ray came through followed by Fieldy. Unfortunately, Jonathan Davis didn't make it out but Darrin took the guitar back to his dressing room and had him sign it later then got it back to me after the show!
The show itself was amazing! It started with a hip hop act I didn't really care for followed by a couple of dubstep sets to pave the way for the portion of KORN's set that featured their new material.
When KORN hit the stage, they opened with some of their hits from the past decade before performing some new songs from their upcoming album The Path to Totality. Their new material sounded great live especially their single "Get Up"!
After they finished their set of new material, they began pounding through their classics and ended with their very first single "Blind"!
The show was great but the drive home sucked! Had we not had something going on at church the next day, we would have stayed in Atlanta and looked into going to the Saints-Falcons game at the Georgia Dome! However, it was an experience that can't be replaced! Now there's Birthday Bash to look forward to tomorrow!
