Yesterday, I thought of how I was going to spend my summer vacation. I happened upon a survey from Hotwire.com. The survey found that the majority of Americans haven’t been to five of this country’s landmarks. 72% of us have never visited the Alamo. The Battle of the Alamo was a pivotal even in the Texas Revolution. I haven’t been to the Alamo. 65% of Americans Surveyed has never been to the Grand Canyon. I have been there twice. It is something amazing to see. 62% of Americans have never seen the Statue of Liberty. I have been to New York. Unfortunately, I have not visited the Statue of Liberty. 61% have never been to Golden Gate Bridge. I have walked on the Bridge and I have been at the Fort Point, beneath it. I lived in California and never went to Alcatraz. I know it sounds weird. But, if you live somewhere, you don’t want to visit a tourist trap. It would have been easy to take a tour. I always had something else to do besides touring San Francisco. Now that I don’t live there anymore, I would love to do that sort of thing. 57% of Americans have ever been to the White House. I have not been to the White House either. I would love to see Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, and Stone Mountain Georgia. Finally, the point of this blog is that we have so much see in the United States. It’s kind of shame that we as American don’t visit our own historical monuments.
