Wow! HUGE week last week!
First off, we had a HUGE turnout in the ratings book! Great ratings are, well....GREAT! Means I get to keep my job for at least a few more months! To celebrate, our general manager had a celebration for us last Thursday at Carolina Ale House.
After the festivities, I walked across the street to Poppington's Gourmet Popcorn since the missus and I went there a few months back with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed their flavor Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate. I picked up that flavor again along with Tuxedo (milk chocolate and white chocolate) and Greenville Mint Chocolate since the missus loves mint (*gag*).
While I was there, the lady behind the counter was asking for help naming their new spicy bacon flavor popcorn so I threw out a couple of names like "Angry Pig" and "Hot Hog" so they gave me a free bag of what they have since named "Blazin' Bacon".
Friday night after work, the missus and I drove up to Charlotte for the night so we could be at Carolina Rebellion bright and early the next morning. After we checked into our hotel, we went to go see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in IMAX at the nearest movie theater. I gotta say, I was much more impressed with this one than the first one in the franchise reboot. I would say more, but I will just let you go see it for yourself.
We were not exactly early to bed but we sure as hell were early to rise! We got to the Rock City Campgrounds by 9 am and made our way back to the media tent backstage directly behind the Carolina stage. We claimed our tables and set up for our interviews which began at noon starting with none other than Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society!
Shortyly after we had a fun and charismatic interview with the Berserker, the possibly even more charismatic Chris Jericho from Fozzy joined us for another fun Q and A!
Later that day, we managed to get both Rob Caggiano and Michael Poulsen from Volbeat at our table for two separate interviews.
Over the course of the day we got a total of eleven interviews taken at our table with bands such as Seether, Trivum, Killswitch Engage, Adelitas Way, Black Stone Cherry, Kyng and Truckfighters!
Unfortunately, due to all the interviews, I missed most of the day's performances. I did, however, manage to slip out and catch Anthrax's set since they were the only band of the Big 4 that I have never seen live.
The only other band I really wanted to see perform was Volbeat. Unfortunately, due to an appointment to interview Johnny Christ from Avenged Sevenfold, I only got to catch the first two songs of their set which included their hit, "Lola Montez".
While I was backstage waiting to go into Johnny's dressing room, Joey, Charlie and Jonathan from Anthrax came walking out heading to the Carolina stage to join Volbeat as surprise guests during their set. I took this opportunity to go and stalk some of my old school thrash heroes. I'm pretty sure I caught them off guard and came across as a creepy weirdo stalker but, oh well, I got to shake Charlie's hand and fist bump Joey so I call it a win!
You can check out all the audio including the one with Johnny Christ for a grand total of twelve interviews in the "Audio Vault" right here
